When in Playa del Carmen in Mexico, you must do these things…

Playa de Carmen is one of Mexico’s most trendy and popular beach locations. There are a thousands of activities to do, ranging from sight-seeing to water sports. But because there are so many options and activities, it may be difficult to pick and know which are the top choices. Here’s a list of the top things and places to go do and see in Playa del Carmen – so I hope this saves you some time!

Scuba diving and snorkeling is a must when you are visiting Playa del Carmen because this area has some of the best diving spots in the world. Along the coastline, you will notice that there are thousands of stores offering diving and water sports services so it’s hard to miss! When you go diving in Playa del Carmen, you will get to see sea turtles, stingrays, eels, lobsters, king crabs and even sharks! Everyone who has gone diving in Playa del Carmen has come back with great stories. It’s a top activity that I highly recommend!

When you google what to do in Playa del Carmen, you will most likely come across Xcaret, an eco-park that is an aquarium, a bird exhibition and a zoo. The area is huge and there are so things to see, but that also means that the prices are high. A cheaper alternative which I highly recommend is visiting Xel-Ha, a natural aquarium with an inlet and lagoon where people can swim and go snorkeling with fishes, dolphins and turtles. Xel-Ha is only an aquatic park, there’s no zoo like in Xcaret so at the end of the day, it comes down to your preference! The park opens daily from 8:30 AM to 6 PM. There are also tour services that offer bundle deals to visit Xel-Ha and other sight-seeing places, a popular combination is with the Tulum Ruins near Cancun.

Touristy spot:

One of the top touristy spot that you should definitely visit during your stay in Playa del Carmen is La Quinta Avenida, a touristy street that runs parallel to the shore. The street is lined with a variety of restaurants and bars! One of the most popular restaurants on the street is Casa Mediterránea that serves Italian cuisines and wines. It’s definitely a place to visit for an unforgettable night.

During the day, another touristy spot that is excellent for pictures is Parque Los Fundadores. There are beautiful flowers, ponds and statuses in this area that makes it a great place to stroll around and take pictures.

Another restaurant that I highly recommend visiting is Blue Lobster! This is the top seafood restaurant to go to. Here, you can choose a lobster straight out of the tank to eat! Other popular dishes of the restaurants are ceviche and shrimps covered in lime butter. The restaurant also has a bar and a stage that plays live music. The atmosphere here is simply incredible and I highly recommend it but you should make a reservation to guarantee a table at this popular crowded restaurant!

If you love dancing and want to find a place to celebrate the best night of your life, Palazzo nightclub is the place to go! It is the ultimate club in Playa del Carmen with an amazing interior design. The place is lit with pink and purple lights and there’s a giant chandelier hanging from the ceiling, making the room look super classy. Some of the best international DJs have even come to visit and perform!

Another number 1 nightclub in Playa del Carmen is called Coco Bongo. There are performances, music and even acrobats which makes the club super unique. Each night there is a different theme and type of show. So if you are looking for a place where you can be amazed, you don’t want to miss out partying at Coco Bongo.
